Albania Celebrates 110th Anniversary of Independence amid Crisis

Albania is celebrating this Monday its 110 years of independence, amid an economic atmosphere burdened by crisis, inflation and war. 

On November 28, 1443, Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu raised the national flag in the Kruja fortress. 

Meanwhile, on November 28, 1912, Ismail Qemali raised the national flag in Vlora and proclaimed the independence of Albania, which marks the independence of the Albanian nation. 

On the occasion of this anniversary of Independence, a joint Assembly was held between Albania and Kosovo on Sunday. 

The meeting was held in the Parliament of Albania, where Speakers Lindita Nikolla and Glauk Konjufca, Prime Ministers Edi Rama and Albin Kurti and heads of parliamentary groups gave speeches. 

Other cultural activities are expected on the occasion of the Independence Day and following also in celebration of November 29, the Day of Liberation of Albania from Nazi Germany.
