Albanian Authorities Warn of New SMS Scam Impersonating e-Albania

Police issued a warning over a new scam involving fraudulent text messages sent in the name of e-Albania, targeting citizens with false claims about vehicle fines.

According to the State Police, the messages are designed to appear as official notifications urging recipients to pay alleged car penalties. They contain fake links that redirect users to counterfeit websites aimed at stealing personal and banking information.

Authorities stress that these messages are entirely fraudulent and have no connection to e-Albania or any state institution.

Citizens are strongly advised not to click on links received via SMS from unknown numbers, avoid sharing personal or financial information on unverified websites, and remain cautious of messages that create a false sense of urgency.

Officials recommend using only the official e-Albania platform for any government-related services, deleting suspicious messages immediately, and reporting such incidents to the relevant authorities.

Police say efforts are ongoing to identify and dismantle these fraudulent schemes, reaffirming their commitment to protecting citizens’ digital security.
