Albanian Mafia more Dangerous than Ndragheta; Head of Bari Prosecution

Bari's chief prosecutor in Italy, Roberto Rossi, emphasizes that the Albanian mafia operating in Italy is similar to Ndragheta, and according to him, it is even more dangerous.

Rossi spoke about the Albanian and Italian mafias and their cooperation, which could turn into a major alarm for the country.

"There is a national emergency here, organized crime is very similar to 'Ndrangheta', but it is many times more dangerous because on the one hand there is the violence of the rural mafia and on the other hand there is the 'intelligence' of the business mafia", says the chief prosecutor Rossi.

Rossi has explained the connections of the mafia of Foggia and `Ndrangheta"

"We have some evidence. They work with Albanians for drugs and through them have relations with Colombia to bring cocaine. The relationship is very strong with the Albanians," he said in an interview with Rai Uno.

He further notes that the Foggia mafia, or so-called "fourth mafia" is already globalized in the sense that it has a very strong relationship with Albanian organized crime.

"Being a mafia that has invested a lot, it has built strong economic relations in northern Italy, the Balkans and Colombia. For this, we have built a bridge of cooperation with the prosecutor of the Albanian anti-mafia ", further emphasizes the prosecutor of Bari.

According to him, the leaders of the Albanian and Italian mafias are sending their children to the most expensive universities. Although this may seem like a signal to separate from what their parents do, according to Rossi, this is difficult to happen because they have grown up in social contexts where great wealth circulates.

"Some boys from drug gangs have studied in Milan, at prestigious universities. More than a signal of the desire to be separated from the family, on the contrary, they are formed in social contexts where a lot of wealth and income circulate," says Rossi.

The Italian prosecutor adds that "crime in Foggia has become stronger in the north. The one in Bari is more limited, probably because it has been opposed more over the years with more energy by the state, so it is in trouble. I would say that the real opponents of organized crime in Foggia are women. They were among the first to react. The role of victim widows plays an important role in the social consciousness of the Foggia area, so I have seen how women are the protagonists of the reaction", he concludes.
