Albanian-Origin Famous Singer, Arif Senturk Passes Away

The famous Turk singer of Albanian origin, Arif Senturk, the beloved name of the Rumelian folk song, who was sent to resuscitation the day before, passed away at the age of 81. 

Singer Onur Akay, gave the news the day before that Arif was being treated in intensive therapy, saying: "The famous name of the Rumelian folk song, Arif Senturk, is unfortunately in intensive therapy and his condition is very serious".

But who was Arif Senturk? 

Arif Senturk, born in the city of Kumanovo, North Macedonia in 1941 to an Albanian family. 

He emigrated to Turkey with his family in 1956 after completing his primary and secondary education at a Turkish school. 

The family first settled in K?rklareli, then moved to the Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul. 

Senturk, who studied music at the Bak?rkoy Music School and Yesilkoy Community Center, was successful in the TRT Amateur Voice Exam in 1975 and was supported by Nida Tufekçi. 

Arif Senturk, who has recorded a total of 12 albums throughout his musical life, won special appreciation especially with Rumelian folk songs such as: "Deryalar", "Ramize" and "Safiye" composed by regions such as: North Macedonia, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Greece.

He also has in his discography a live performance with the interpretation of a potpourri of Albanian folk songs.
