Balla Presents Iran Resolution, Criticizes Opposition Boycott

Taulant Balla, head of the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party of Albania, presented a draft resolution on Iran in Parliament, emphasizing Albania’s stance against terrorism and commitment to global security.

Balla described the resolution as part of Albania’s obligations as a member of NATO and a candidate for the European Union, highlighting the country’s role in collective security and international cooperation.

He also expressed regret over the opposition’s boycott of the session, while noting that smaller opposition parties participated in the meeting.

In his remarks, Balla pointed to cyberattacks against Albania, including a major 2022 incident and a recent attempt targeting Parliament, calling them hostile acts aimed at destabilizing democratic institutions.

The proposed resolution calls for condemning state-backed terrorism, including the use of proxy groups and cyber warfare, and urges the government to strengthen coordination with international partners.
