The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Milva Ekonomi, was on Tuesday in Shkodra where she closely followed the process of issuing cards enabling farmers to benefit tax-free oil. The measure is part of a government support scheme for agriculture and began to be implemented on January 15.

"One of the most important processes of the government program has started, the issuance of the card for tax-free oil, which means every farm that carries out mechanized agricultural processes benefits 54-56 liters for free in every 100 liters of oil. But every farmer must be equipped with a tax registration number NIPT and link his activity with an agricultural plot,” Ekonomi said.

The first applicant farmer in the e-albania portal to benefit a card was from Gruemira village of Malësia e Madhe.

During her speech, Minister Ekonomi encouraged other farmers to apply for tax-free oil though the e-albania portal.

Minister Ekonomi informed that the government plants to focus this year’s investments on the irrigation and drainage system which is important of the development of agriculture.

The oil support scheme will provide registered farmers with oil free of excise, circulation and carbon tax for agricultural purposes. For 2021, the program will cost the state budget a total of Lek 950 million.
