DP Sues Infrastructure Minister at SPAK for Llogara Tunnel Const. Firm
Lawsuit against the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku has been submitted this Tuesday at the Special Prosecution against Organized Crime and Corruption (SPAK) by the Democratic Party (DP) of Albania.
This lawsuit against Minister Balluku was communicated by the MP Helidon Bushati, after the government official selected the most expensive company to do the construction works, and the DP claimed that Albanians' taxes are being misused at a time when the government is talking about a crisis.
In the competition between "INTEKAR YAPI" and "ASL" that sought to build the tunnel for about 17 billion or 170 million dollars, and another union of operators, consisting of the Egyptian company "Concord Engineering" and two Albanian companies, which have offered 12 million dollars less for the same work, a total of 158 million dollars, the ministry led by Belinda Balluku, chose the most expensive offer for the pockets of citizens, said the DP.
"The Ministry of Infrastructure, which is also the ministry on which the weight of mismanagement and corruption falls for the energy situation in the country, for which 200 million euros of debt will be taken, which will be paid from the taxes of Albanians, has announced the winner of the tender for the construction of the Llogara tunnel, a merger of Turkish companies, which has offered about USD 12 million more than the lowest bid.
So, in the competition between 'INTEKAR YAPI' and 'ASL' that sought to build the tunnel for about 17 billion or 170 million dollars, and another union of operators, consisting of the Egyptian company 'Concord Engineering' and two Albanian companies, which have offered 12 million dollars less for the same work, in total 158 million dollars, the ministry led by Belinda Balluku, chose the most expensive offer for the pockets of citizens.
Exactly at a time when the government is talking about a crisis, the taxes of Albanians are being misused. And in front of the eyes of all Albanians it is clear that the crisis is for the citizens, while for the government it is a season of enrichment for it and its customers.
And there are not little, but 12 million dollars that can go to the needy, not to the appetites of a small handful of people.
The Democratic Party will not be satisfied only with the denunciation of this scandal, but will submit a criminal report to the SPAK for the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku.
Albanian citizens cannot bear the corruption of this minority, so it is the duty of justice to put an end to abuses. It is the duty of justice to put an end to the impunity of those in power who impoverish citizens, to enrich themselves and the clients with whom they share an illegitimate power", stated Bushati.
