The situation in Himara remains critical as a rapidly spreading wildfire continues to advance, with flames moving increasingly closer to the coastal city in southern Albania.

Around 160 personnel from the Albanian Armed Forces, Civil Emergencies structures and emergency medical teams have been deployed to the area, working intensively to contain the blaze and protect residents.

Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu has also urged residents to remain cautious and cooperate fully with emergency crews operating on the ground.

Authorities are calling on people in affected areas to follow evacuation instructions and avoid putting their lives at risk as firefighters and emergency teams continue their efforts to contain the fire.

“The situation in Himara remains difficult,” Koçiu said, emphasizing that protecting human life is the top priority.

The emergency operation is continuing around the clock, with all relevant authorities working in coordination to prevent the flames from spreading further toward populated areas. “At this moment, nothing is more important than life,” Kociu said.
