Japan's PM Sanae Takaichi says rescue teams are in a "race against time" after an earthquake killed at least 13 people.

The quake hit the country's Kumamoto prefecture, in the south-west, on Tuesday with a magnitude of 6.8.

Rescuers are searching the rubble of the Aeon Mall in Kashima town, where the mall's president says three people are still unaccounted for after an explosion and another three are confirmed dead - here's a full roundup of his news conference.

Searches also continue at the Nippon Paper factory in Yatsushiro, with PM Takaichi saying there are still people "in need of help".
