Kosovo Govt Allocates EUR 50,000 to Support Albanians of Presevo Valley
The Government of Kosovo has decided to allocate 50 thousand euros for Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja. Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that this decision was taken at the request of the Albanian National Council and representatives of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac.
"In order to support the political cause of the Albanians of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac and based on the request submitted, it is proposed to allocate funds in the amount of 50 thousand euros in support of the lobbying activities of the Albanian National Council and Albanian representatives there. The funds are proposed to be allocated from the budgeted funds to the Office of the Prime Minister in the program "Support for the Presevo Valley", said Kurti at the Government meeting.
In April 2020, when the situation with COVID-19 had just erupted in Kosovo and the region, the government allocated 500 thousand euros for the three municipalities of the Valley, Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac. In September of the same year, the government led by former Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti established the "Office for providing assistance to the citizens of the Presevo Valley".
Kosovo's help comes after the Presevo Valley was left without an Albanian representative in the Serbian Parliament. Shaip Kamberi, the chairman of the coalition of Albanians of the Valley failed to win the mandate of MP for a very small number of votes.
