Northern Italy Engulfed by Bad Weather

Italian authorities have issued a red alert for Lombardy and an orange alert for six other regions.

Genoa experienced flooding and brief disruptions due to the powerful storm, with 80 millimeters of rain falling in less than an hour.

Heavy rain that fell in Milan caused some flooding, but no damage was reported.

Authorities are monitoring the Seveso and Lambro rivers, which reached the first critical threshold. Landslides in Saint-Andrè en Savoie cut rail lines with France.

However, the orange alert is in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Bolzano, Tuscany and Veneto.

The warning is yellow in Abruzzo, Campania, part of Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Veneto and Piedmont, in Lazio, part of Molise, Province of Trento, but also in Sardinia, Umbria and Valle d'Aosta.

And if the north is rain-struck, the south is burning. Trapani airport was closed for four hours yesterday due to the fires.

In Scopello, 400 tourists were evacuated due to the wildfires.
