Opposition MP, Klevis Balliu Alleges Organized Attack during Tirana Protest

Opposition lawmaker Klevis Balliu has accused the government and police of orchestrating an incident during an evening protest in Tirana, after he was forced to flee through the Lana River amid clashes with protesters.

In a public statement, Balliu acknowledged that a confrontation took place and that several citizens were attacked, while denying reports that he himself had been beaten.

The Democratic Party MP alleged that the incident involved activists from the Bashkë Movement, led by Arlind Qori, whom he accused of acting in the interests of the governing majority. These allegations have not been independently verified.

Balliu also reiterated his support for students protesting against alleged police violence, vowing that he and the Democratic Party would continue backing their demands.

The circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the allegations made by Balliu remain unclear.
