A source at the U.S. Embassy in Tirana has called on citizens participating in the ongoing protest in the Albanian capital to express their views lawfully and peacefully.

Responding to a question of Top Channel, the embassy source stressed that violence has no place in civic engagement.

“We urge citizens participating in protests to express their views lawfully and peacefully. Acts of violence are not part of civic engagement,” the statement said.

The appeal comes amid ongoing demonstrations in Tirana, where authorities and monitoring institutions have raised concerns over violence and the treatment of detained protesters.
