Peleshi Received by UK State Secretary for Defence

The Minister of Defence, Niko Peleshi, conducted an official visit to Great Britain this Monday. Minister Peleshi was received in a meeting by Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace. 

Peleshi expressed his gratitude for the support that the British Ministry of Defence has given to the Albanian Armed Forces. For his part, Secretary Wallace expressed his readiness for the intensification of this cooperation within the framework of the Alliance, but also within the framework of bilateral and regional cooperation. 

Likewise, the Minister of Defence, Niko Peleshi was received by the Minister of State Baroness Goldie Dl. The two ministers signed the Joint Declaration on Increasing Bilateral Cooperation in the Defence Field, a document which aims to strengthen current cooperation, identify new areas of cooperation to face challenges and adapt to the new innovations that time brings and the increasingly competitive and complex environment. As two NATO member countries, the ministers reaffirmed their determination to continue contributing to international security, including continued support for Ukraine, as well as increased commitment to the security of the Western Balkans and NATO's southern flank. 

Another meeting was reserved for Minister Peleshi by the head and some members of the multiparty parliamentary group for Albania, where they discussed the latest developments in the Western Balkans region. During this meeting, Peleshi emphasized that Albania's foreign policy is always more and more oriented towards good neighbourliness, security and stability of the Western Balkans. 

The minister was received in a special meeting by the British Prime Minister's Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Sir Stuart Peach, an early friend of the Albanian Armed Forces. During this meeting, issues of interest to the development, security, stability of the Western Balkans, Albania's role in the region were discussed, where special attention was paid to the issue of Kosovo.
