President Decrees Criminal Amnesty Law Benefiting More Than 1,300 Convicts

President Bajram Begaj on Tuesday signed into law a criminal amnesty approved by Parliament earlier this month, paving the way for 1,335 convicted individuals to benefit from the measure.

The legislation was passed by Parliament on June 18 with 84 votes in favor. Before its approval, the Ministry of Justice expanded the scope of the amnesty by extending the eligibility deadline from December 31, 2025, to May 31, 2027, increasing the number of beneficiaries to 1,335.

In a statement issued by the Presidency, Begaj announced that he had signed Decree No. 375, promulgating Law No. 57/2026, "On Granting Amnesty."

The president also promulgated Law No. 59/2026, "On the Electricity Sector," and Law No. 60/2026, "On Electronic Freight Transport Information," according to the official statement.
