Prosecutor Ylli Pjetërnikaj has officially submitted his candidacy to Albania's High Prosecutorial Council (KLP) to compete for the position of Prosecutor General, becoming the latest contender in the selection process.

With Pjetërnikaj's application, the number of candidates rises to three. Prosecutors Adnan Xholi and Rovena Zoto have already filed their applications, while the deadline for submitting candidacies is August 1.

Pjetërnikaj is a prosecutor and lecturer at the School of Magistrates, holding a Ph.D. in Law. Throughout his career, he has served as a prosecutor in Kukës, Lezhë, Tirana and Shkodër, where he also headed the local prosecution office.

He specializes in cybercrime, having completed the Chevening Western Balkans Cyber Security Fellowship at Cranfield University. Pjetërnikaj is also a member of the editorial board of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) and the Association Internationale de Droit Pénal (AIDP).

In addition to his prosecutorial work, he has contributed to criminal justice legislation, Albania's judicial reform and the country's European integration process, representing Albania in several international legal forums.
