Zelenskyy Lands in Sweden for 1st Time Since Russia's invasion
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has landed in Sweden for talks with the country's prime minister, royal family and other officials. The Ukrainian president arrived with his wife Olena and plans to discuss "partnership, defence cooperation, EU integrations and common Euro-Atlantic security" with the officials.
It marks his first trip to the country since Russia launched its invasion.
"Our primary task is the strengthening of Ukrainian warriors on the ground and in the sky, the development of bilateral cooperation, in particular in the defence industry, Ukraine's European integration and common security in the Euro-Atlantic space," he wrote on Telegram
"I would like to personally thank Sweden for supporting our struggle for freedom and independence," he added.
His meeting comes after the US signed off on sending modern F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine from Denmark and the Netherlands a day ago.
Washington said it will expedite approval of transfer requests for the jets when pilots are trained - a process which could take months.
