'We Will Protect Small Businesses, Families from Electricity Crisis'

During his speech at the signing ceremony of the agreement between the Albanian government and the French Agency for Development on energy reform, Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, stated this Friday that the Albanian government will fulfill the commitment it has made to protect small businesses and household consumers from the energy crisis, by not raising prices for them.

"I thank all the donors. We started with the French development agency last year with intensive cooperation that was finalized with the signed agreement. Since June 2020, when it formalized its activity in Albania, we have advanced with 3 projects. We signed today for gender equality what we referred to before, the 3rd project is in the framework of reconstruction, you have often heard me refer to the French aid a project that commits 60 million euros for the reconstruction of the internal water supply network of Durrës which is in the final stage to be signed soon. Today's agreement on the energy sector comes at an important moment. Energy reform is among the boldest. The focus of all governments in the world is addressing the problems in the energy crisis. Today we have another panorama of the system. The important support of the Albanian government that unites AFD and KFV summarizes several objectives. From June 20, we advanced with 3 projects with ADF", said Ahmetaj, among others.

Ahmetaj further added that the Albanian government will fulfill the commitment it has made to protect small business and household consumers from the energy crisis, by not raising prices for them.

"Many countries have failed to do so. Countries that are also part of the G7 like Italy or EU countries like Spain and Greece and Austria or Poland and Germany have increased the prices of finals ie families. We have made a commitment to have the security of supply one, to protect small business two, so without increasing prices to protect family members three, we will continue and we will succeed. This has been achieved thanks to the attention of the government, the reform in the energy sector, the daily work of companies and the ministry and the support of donors," stated Ahmetaj.
