Albania Approves €7.5 Million in Bonuses for 2,750 Police Officers Deployed During Tirana Protests
Albania’s government has approved a financial reward for 2,750 State Police officers, citing their increased engagement in maintaining public order and security during protests in the capital, Tirana.
The decision was adopted at Monday’s Council of Ministers meeting, following an earlier announcement by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
According to the official document, the government has allocated 740.08 million Albanian lek (approximately €7.5 million) to fund the bonuses. The money will be added to the Ministry of Interior’s budget under the State Police’s current expenditure program.
The financial allocation will be covered by the state budget’s reserve fund for 2026.
Under the decision, the General Directorate of State Police will compile the list of eligible officers based on supporting documentation and oversee the procedures for distributing the payments.
The Ministries of Finance and Interior, along with the General Directorate of State Police, have been tasked with implementing the decision.
