Albanian Minister's Speech at UN 76th Anniversary

During her speech at the Memorandum of Understanding ceremony with the United Nations, in the framework of its 76th birthday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, considered the acquisition of the mandate from Albania in the Security Council as a great achievement, as it offers opportunities excellent for our country in the global sphere.

According to the minister, this mandate is an indicator of the maturity that Albanian diplomacy has achieved. She immediately said that Albania and the region are proof of the great value of multilateral cooperation.

"It is undoubtedly a great achievement for Albania, a prestigious achievement that shows what maturity Albanian diplomacy has achieved and that recognizes the constructive role of our country in terms of security, stability and development. But above all it is an opportunity. An opportunity for a small country that usually finds it difficult to influence or make its voice heard in the global arena, to present to the world some ideas, some solutions to the problems that concern us all. Ideas and solutions that stem from our experience, in issues such as Women Peace and Security, the Fight against Violent Radicalism, or the need to respect human rights, where Albania undoubtedly has much to say, or even on issues such as climate where we may not yet have a clear record of achievements, but we are aware of the need to do something and therefore we have decided to join forces with other countries that share the same concern to take the baton on this issue from them and to pass it to another partner country at the end of our mandate ", said the minister.
