Balla Claims Opposition Leader Signed Zvërnec Development Master Plan

The head of Albania's Socialist Party parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, accused Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha of personally signing a master plan for the development of the Zvërnec area, escalating political tensions during a parliamentary debate.

Balla made the remarks in Parliament while responding to Erald Kapri, a lawmaker from the Opportunity Party, during a discussion on agricultural land issues.

Addressing lawmakers, Balla said he was waiting for Berisha to return to the parliamentary chamber so he could publicly present what he described as a document bearing the former prime minister's signature authorizing the Zvërnec development master plan.

"I am waiting for Sali to come back. I can't wait for him to return because I have a document that will make all of Albania laugh at him not just for 30 days, but for years to come. I have a document that Sali personally signed with his own hand approving the master plan for the development of the entire Zvërnec area," Balla said.

Berisha had not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of Balla's remarks.
