Elisa Spiropali Urges Edi Rama to Lead Socialist Party Reforms, Raises Prospect of New Elections
Elisa Spiropali has called on Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama to convene the Socialist Party’s leadership structures and initiate internal reforms, arguing that the party must embrace change and greater democratic accountability.
In a lengthy letter addressed to Rama, Spiropali called for genuine internal elections, merit-based leadership, greater responsibility and opportunities for a new generation of leaders.
She also argued that new parliamentary elections should not be viewed as a threat if they form part of a democratic solution guaranteeing free competition and broad participation.
“It's time for change,” Spiropali wrote, urging Rama to move away from a culture centered on individuals and toward stronger institutions.
She warned that parties unable to reform from within may eventually be forced to change from outside, stressing that democratic renewal is essential to restoring public trust.
