Italo-Albanian Drug Trafficking Gang Dismantled, 20 Arrested

Italian police have cracked down on an Italian-Albanian gang which was supplying drugs to other criminal groups. After the completion of two years of investigation on this gang, the Italian police officers handcuffed 20 Albanians and Italians, where 15 ended up in prison and 5 others under house arrest.

They are accused of creating a structured criminal group for the purpose of trafficking drugs, illegal possession of weapons. Their base was the Bergamo area and the Italian-Albanian gang supplied other groups mainly with cocaine and heroin. They use methods from the most diverse of the mafia world going as far as shooting with guns. In their fight for territories, the Italian-Albanian gang had occupied the squares of Northern Italy with mafia and violent methods. 

The Italian-Albanian gang had gained notoriety for its violent behaviour while being able to supply mainly heroin and cocaine to other criminal groups, very active in central and northern Italy. 

During the investigation, police made 20 arrests and seized 1.4 kilograms of cocaine, 14 kg of heroin, 100 cutting materials, 17,500 euros in cash and two firearms. Also, numerous checks were carried out, during which about 74 thousand euros in cash were seized.

Police operations took place in Bergamo, Brescia, Bolzano, Novara and Rimini. The operation, coordinated by the Anti-Mafia of Brescia, had started in September 2019 when the police had tracked the activity of some Albanians in Bergamo. They discovered the Albanian and Italian criminal organization operating in the area of ??Brescia and Bergamo as well as in some areas of Milan.
