Police Launch Criminal Proceedings Against 11 Individuals Over Tirana Protests
Police initiated criminal proceedings against 11 individuals suspected of involvement in actions that allegedly disrupted public order and traffic during protests held in the capital on June 22 and 23.
Through a statement released by the State Police, investigators from Police Station No. 3 identified the individuals and placed them under investigation for the criminal offense of “Obstruction of Transportation Traffic.”
Police said the suspects are believed to have directed and organized protest activities in locations different from those officially declared to authorities, resulting in the blockage of several major roads in Tirana.
The alleged incidents took place at key intersections, including the junction of Urani Pano Street and Zogu I Boulevard, the intersection of Ibrahim Rugova Street and Kavaja Street, and the crossing of Ibrahim Rugova Street with Gjergj Fishta Boulevard.
Authorities stated that the gatherings caused significant disruptions to the movement of vehicles and pedestrians in areas with heavy traffic flow.
The 11 individuals are being investigated while remaining at liberty. Their identities were disclosed only through initials in accordance with legal procedures.
Police said the case files have been forwarded to the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office for further legal action.
The State Police emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to assess the circumstances surrounding the demonstrations and their impact on public order and transportation in the capital.
