Three Albanian Post Employees Detained in Durres Over Alleged Financial Abuse
Three employees of the Albanian Post's Durres branch have been detained as part of an investigation into alleged abuse of office and financial misconduct, authorities said.
The detainees have been identified as Elisabeta Mataj, director of the Durres branch, Valbona Hoti Duni, head of finance, and cashier Paola Dana.
The detentions followed a criminal complaint filed by Albanian Post. Prosecutor G. Frëngu immediately initiated procedural actions and requested the support of the State Police's General Directorate as the investigation moved forward.
According to the information released, the three employees were questioned in connection with allegations of abuse of office and irregularities involving monetary funds. The prosecutor subsequently ordered their detention.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet disclosed further details regarding the amount of money allegedly involved or whether additional individuals may face charges.
