Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj

Budget Revenues Projected at EUR 9.4bln in 2027

Albania's budget revenues for 2027 are projected at Lek 907.9 billion, or approximately Euro 9.4 billion, representing 30.9% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Finance Minister Petrit Malaj said on Thursday.

Speaking before the Committee on Economy, Employment and Finance, which is discussing projected revenues and expenditures under the 2027 draft budget, Malaj stated that the revenue projections for the coming year are based on economic growth, improvements in tax administration and the implementation of measures included in the fiscal package.

According to the Minister, the forecast is based on an analytical assessment that takes into account the impact of economic growth and inflation, new measures included in the fiscal package, and the implementation of the Medium-Term Revenue Strategy.

Malaj emphasised that the 2027 revenue projections are designed to support fiscal policy objectives, ensure the sustainability of public finances and improve revenue collection.

During his remarks, Malaj noted that local government expenditure for 2027 is projected at Lek 114.6 billion (approximately Euro 1.2 billion). Furthermore, including conditional transfers for investments and various projects, total financial support for local government is expected to reach Lek 137 billion, or around Euro 1.4 billion.

The Minister stressed that, alongside financial support from the central government, municipalities must work towards increasing their financial autonomy, advancing decentralisation and strengthening their capacity to generate more revenue from their own sources.
