Man Shot Dead in Suspected Ambush Near Home Outside Albania's Capital

A 50-year-old man was shot and killed shortly after midnight in the village of Bërxullë, near the town of Vorë on the outskirts of Albania's capital, Tirana, according to police.

The victim was identified as Edmond Sula, also known as Ali Sula. Police said he was walking along a road at around 12:10 a.m. local time when he was fatally shot.

Investigators believe Sula was returning to his home when one or more assailants, suspected of lying in wait, opened fire as he approached the property. He died at the scene.

Authorities have not identified any suspects, and the motive remains under investigation. Police have collected security camera footage from the area and established checkpoints while conducting searches to locate those responsible.

In a preliminary statement, Albanian police said a special investigative team, working under the direction of the prosecution office, is examining the scene, gathering evidence, and continuing efforts to identify and apprehend the suspected perpetrator or perpetrators.
