Police Seize Around 46 Kilograms of Suspected Narcotics at Tirana International Airport
Police have seized approximately 46 kilograms of suspected narcotics at Tirana International Airport following a coordinated operation launched after authorities received intelligence from Canadian counterparts about a suspicious shipment.
According to preliminary information, three people are suspected of involvement in the attempted transport of the drugs, including an Albanian couple and a foreign national.
Investigators say one of the suspects, identified as Kristian Gjoni, allegedly attempted to avoid inspection by claiming that his wife was pregnant and therefore unable to undergo the required screening procedures.
Medical examinations later determined that the claim was false, authorities said. The couple and the third suspect were subsequently arrested.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances of the case and determine the role of each suspect. Officials have not yet released additional details regarding the origin or intended destination of the shipment.
