Premier Seeks Across-Albania Operation against Illegal Construction
Operation targeting illegal constructions from Velipoja to Ksamil must be launched now not in the middle of summer when the tourists come, highlighted Friday Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The Head of Government emphasized that this operation must tolerate nobody, a red line that under no circumstance is to be crossed must be set wherever there is any illegal process of building. There must be detentions and prosecutions wherever concrete is thrown, not only demolition of the objects, he added.
"An operation from Velipoja to Ksamil must be started and now, not in the middle of summer when tourists come. Without any tolerance, and not by going to constructions that were made 20 years ago, as happened in Zvërnec, but going where it is totally clear.
Not dealing with the people who have been there for 25 years and as long as there is no other plan to continue providing those services to tourists. But by going and setting a red line, which should not be crossed by anyone.
Where concrete is poured without permission, there should be not only demolition, but also prohibitions and criminal proceedings based on new legal changes. Now the whole chain must be penalized, the supervisor of works, the architect, they are all part.
The roof, which the state police should not allow, is demolished by the state at the expense of the state, and cleaned by the state. This must not happen again. If they do not afford them there are other costs they have to bear.
I believe that very soon this situation will pass to a new stage, because a lot of work has been done, but it is insufficient. The costs are terrible for constructionsâ€, stressed PM Rama in his statement.
